Chem-Dry commenced in the USA 25 years ago. It was born out of the need to satisfy clients' desire to have a beautiful, clean carpet that dried in around an hour and not days. The idea for "The Carbonated Cleaner" came from an air flight that Chem-Dry's founder, Robert Harris, took all those years ago.
He watched with interest as an airline steward removed a stain from a passenger's clothing, using nothing but soda water. Not a trace of the stain left.

Chem-Dry AUSTRALIA was founded by the Mitchell Family of Sydney in 1986. Bruce & Elva and their three sons, Cameron, Loren & Lachlan worked very hard and with great passion for the Chem-Dry opportunity to succeed. Elva remembers, "I had my carpets cleaned many times before we started Chem-Dry. When I saw the unique Chem-Dry process demonstrated for the first time, I was so amazed at the difference I told my husband that we had to buy a Chem-Dry franchise, there is just nothing comparable". Since then many terrific entrepreneurs have joined us and bought their very own Chem-Dry franchise.
